One Person Hare Puppet, a Course By Nick Barnes Puppets

On this course I made a one person Hare puppet, using a combination of plastazote and wood. The wooden armature was cut from MDF using a bandsaw and scroll saw, These were then used as a pattern for the plastazote pieces. All of the limbs were carved from thick plastazote, using a knife and a rasp to create a smooth shape to mimic the natural shape of the muscles. The limbs are joined with elastic. I decided I wanted the body to have a flexible 3D shape so I created a spiral to join the legs to the head. The front legs/ arms are joined to this spiral.

I learnt so much from this course, especially joining together the armature pieces for the handles in the head and at the hips.

I intend to develop this puppet further into a finished product with 'fur' texture.
