The Magic Toyshop

This was my Foundation Year final project. My design was inspired by the book 'The Magic Toyshop' by Angela Carter. The wedding dress illustrates the story as a whole, referencing the borrowing of the dress at the start of the story, swan imagery from later in the narrative and burning from the finale. The dress is made from duchess satin, with a half boned lined bodice. Every element of the construction process was self taught. I also sourced shoes and made a head garland to complete the look. The makeup is inspired by the puppets in the story.
